Why Compost?

Composting has many benefits! Backyard Composting is an easy and effective way to manage food scraps at home and improve your ecological footprint, all while making your own 'Gardener's Black Gold' to improve your garden soil quality. Food scraps make up 15% of the waste stream nationwide, and the largest component of landfilled waste (22%). When food is buried in a landfill, it creates Methane, a greenhouse gas more potent than carbon dioxide. But when food scraps are managed by composting, they are transformed into a stable soil amendment called compost that has many horticultural uses and benefits!

Pickup your preorder ONE DAY ONLY -Saturday, May 1st 2021, from 9:00AM -2:00 PM at the UCRRA main office. COVID-19 Safety: This is a drive-through event (please stay in your vehicle). Please be advised that facemasks will be required and that social distancing guidelines will be in place.
